Geist2 is a streamlined environment for beat creation and sound sculpting that provides instant inspiration and new ideas for your productions. FXpansion’s MPC-inspired workstation boasts enough sampling, sequencing and processing power to facilitate the production of complete tracks in isolation, should you want to use it for that but its primary purpose is the creation of beats and grooves.

Very happy that BFD3 is functional again on my new MacBook Pro. Thank you for using our software library. Everything loaded and played correctly, and it sounded as great as ever. Those of us who use BFD3 have been waiting for a while for an update, so when they released a Catalina compatible version this week I jumped right on it.Īfter I downloaded and installed the software BFD3 ran a scan on my user content (something that the security in Catalina made prohibitive),which it did with no issue, and I was able to start using it right away. I won’t get into the details as to why and how, but a lot of music production software vendors had to scramble to get updates in place to handle computers running the Catalina OS.įXpansion was one of those hit by issues running on Catalina, and BFD3 seemed to be particularly vexing to get to work with Catalina. You really have to dig to see the beauty in Geist but it is readily apparent in the sound engine which really shines. Geist 2 is not what you would expect from drum software but for the creative it has possibilities to really let you put a signature on a track. Even at this early point, skeptics will question whether the world. Overall: Geist 2 is a whole new beast from Fxpansion's first drum software Guru.
FXpansion have been producing drum-related software since 1999, starting with DR-008, then moving on to BFD and Guru. But then it arrived: Geist is cut from similar cloth but actually contains completely new code. Catalina was the OS that the MacBook was released with, and that OS notoriously broke a lot of software. Geist is a new drum sampler and sequencer from FXpansion, which runs as a standalone instrument or as an AU/VST/RTAS plug-in. FXpansion Geist PC/Mac, 165/189/249 FXpansion launched its Guru drum machine way back in 2005, so by 2010 we were beginning to think that we’d never see a successor.

With BFD3 you not only get a load of great drum samples and drum grooves, but you have full control over the mix, effects and mic placement for the kits.īFD3 also has the ability to add on additional sample packs and groove packs. FXpansion’s BFD3 is a tremendously powerful virtual drum kit, really its a full studio based around drum samples.
